Thousands of festival-goers gathered last night in Gaspé for the Grands Spectacles Hydro-Québec du Festival Musique du Bout du Monde.
Gaspé, August 10, 2019 - It is in front of a conquered public and a full house that Galaxie and Half Moon Run have ignited the vigil. Lakou Mizik - 8pm Chapiteau des Grands Spectacles Hydro-Québec
Lakou Mizik is a multi-generational Haitian group formed in the wake of the 2010 earthquake disaster. It is composed of an amalgam of nine musicians, both experienced musicians and young emerging talents, all gathered with the goal of honoring the memory of Haitian culture and making it shine. They have collaborated with Arcade Fire on one of their latest songs released in 2019.
Alain Pérez y la Orquestra - 9:30 PM Chapiteau des Grands Spectacles Hydro-Québec
13 young Cuban musicians on stage and Alain Pérez, the man-orchestra, genius of the bass and the arrangements, juggling between the brass, the bass, the percussions and the piano. Nourished by flamenco influences through his work with masters such as Paco de Lucia, it was in Cuba that he created La Orquesta and offered two albums nominated for Latin Grammy Awards, one in 2015, in the category of Best Traditional Tropical Music Album with "El alma del son, tributo a Matamoros" and the other, "ADN" in 2017 in the category of Best Salsa Album.
His talent has allowed him to play with internationally renowned orchestras and musicians such as Los Van Van, Irakere, Isaac Delgado, Paquito d'Rivera, Celia Cruz, Javier Maso Caramelo and many others. In Spain, he has shared the stage with great names like Enrique Morente, Diego El Cigala, Niño Josele.
