Launch of the program

PRESS RELEASE - The 16th edition of the Festival Musique du Bout du Monde: a warm and contrasting edition!

Gaspé, April 25, 2019 - With the release ofElisapie 's tickets to the sunrise show at Cap-Bon-Ami at the end of November 2018, the organizers of the Festival Musique du Bout du Monde, presented by Loto Quebec, set the tone. The programming of this 16th edition still surprises us with its eclecticism, halfway between heritage and modernity, reflecting the state of mind of the people here and the mix of cultures. To date, sales for this show are higher than those of previous editions on the same date, with less than 200 tickets still available.

On Thursday night, the Grand Spectacles Hydro-Québec tent will feature a double bill of festivities with Shantel, who has been brilliantly combining Eastern European sounds with Berlin pop for 30 years. A real blast! Hubert Lenoir extends the party with a glam-rock pop, whose texts depict this generation free of all codes of which he is a part. We can already hear his well-known lyrics, chanted in the Gaspé night.

We continue the festivities on Friday with our Quebec-inspired rock night with a global reach, for an explosive musical cocktail! The band Galaxie, mixes alternative rock and electro sounds to create wild music that puts the crowd in a trance. Half Moon Run, with over 500 shows internationally, offer a unique musical aesthetic that fuses elements of indie, rock, pop and folk with delicate guitar lines and a touch of electronic music.

We end the tour of the big top with our Saturday with accents from elsewhere. Lakou Mizik, a multigenerational collective, offers powerful melodies with a positive message where we find African, French, Caribbean and American influences that meet in Haiti. The crowd will then sway to the tunes of Cuban salsa with Alain Pérez and his 13-piece orchestra. They offer us chronicles of Cuban life with humor on a background of sound, timba and jazz. Warmth guaranteed!

A 16th edition of FMBM, which celebrates a music without borders

The festival Musique du Bout du Monde continues to occupy the territory of the greater Gaspé area, with the pre-FMBM from August 3 to 7, 2019 presented by the City of Gaspé, and the FMBM from August 8 to 11 in downtown Gaspé. During 9 days, the population will be able to discover the twenty or so stages. The inevitable Espace Familial Uniprix will be there. It will be located along the Baker Hotel, between the Loto Québec stage and the cathedral street, which will allow people to enjoy the concerts and the activities at the same time!

During the pre-FMBM, festival-goers will be able to enjoy a variety of musical performances and moments of sharing. Among others, the Irish music concert in Douglastown, the musical picnic in Anse-à-Valleau, and the Chœur du Bout du Monde at the Christ-Roi Cathedral in Gaspé, in collaboration with Les Voix du Large. The Rivière-au-Renard shrimp roast and the musical lunches, held during a meal in the seniors' residences, will be opportunities to share. Our seniors will have the pleasure of discovering the storyteller Patrick Dubois, who perpetuates the tradition of the "quêteux", then a show in partnership with the FADOQ at Berceau du Canada.

With a 100% Gaspesian opening, the dynamism of Papagroove, the latino beat of Sonido Pesao, and the bewitching Lucibela, the Loto-Québec scene is perfectly anchored in the celebration of a music with varied colors. With groups like Djely Tapa and K-Iri, we are attracted by the expression of a new modernity harmoniously tributary of the tradition. The Montreal rap and hip-hop group Dead Obies will close the ball of this beautiful program.

The Journées du Bout du Monde will animate downtown Gaspé and its surroundings for 4 days thanks to an interactive program for the general public. Contemporary dance workshops with Frictions, the Children's Ball, Yoga Beat and Tai Chi will get you moving while many street artists will delight your eyes and ears with stilt concertos, giant puppets, percussion, circus, sound systems including Papet J, Bass ma Boom, DJ Mom, DJ Fehmiu and more.

The site of Berceau du Canada in Gaspé has been chosen to host Millimetrik and Organ Mood, who will offer sometimes hard-hitting, sometimes hypnotic electro sounds, always accompanied by VJ projections on the sails. The Desjardins evenings and the sunset projections in collaboration with the Festival Vues sur Mer will be as many occasions to share with the family.

The Nuits Chaudes du Bout du Monde will be synonymous with sleepless nights. The Brise-Bise will host DJ Mom, Forest Boys, Les Louanges and Sonido Pesao while at La Voûte, the Winston Band, Talktones and a DJ set by Vnce Carter of the Dead Obies will ensure the atmosphere. On Saturday night, Moment Sauvage and its guests will continue the festivities until dawn at Berceau du Canada.

The 16th edition of the festival Musique du Bout du Monde will be held from August 3 to 7, 2019 throughout the city of Gaspé in Pre-FMBM mode and from August 8 to 11, 2019 in downtown Gaspé. By purchasing the Complimentary Member card for $10, you get $5 off the 3 Night Passport with Elisapie's show at Lever du Soleil, as well as all the benefits that come with the Complimentary Member card, detailed at http://www.musiqueduboutdumonde.com/. The first 1000 3-night passports are on sale for $60, the next 500 for $70 and the last passports for $80. This year, a great technological innovation: festival-goers will also be able to buy drinks online, which will be loaded onto the wristband given to them at the Festival box office, just like the 3-night passports and other paying shows. Festival-goers will be able to pay for their drinks at the bars at FMBM with their wristband, which will be scanned by our teams.
