PRESS RELEASE - THE MUSIQUE DU BOUT DU MONDE FESTIVAL AT THE SUMMIT OF TOURISM EXCELLENCE
Gaspé, November 9, 2018 - Accompanied by representatives of Destination Gaspé and the Festi-plage de Cap d'Espoir, the Festival Musique du Bout du Monde was present to share the good deeds and solutions that animate the organizers of major events in Quebec that welcome a good number of excursionists and travelers who come to discover the authenticity and richness of our living environments.
Last Tuesday evening, we were also there to celebrate our pride in being one of the 40 events that have been identified as leaders in our industry. During the evening, a dozen awards were presented and the Festival Musique du Bout du Monde was awarded the Coup de cœur Festivals et événements Québec in the category Initiative en innovation et développement de l'offre for the Au lever du soleil concert with Yann Perreau, presented at the summit of Mount Royal at first light on June 7.
In Gaspé, the Sunrise Concerts have been presented for the past 7 years at Cap Bon-Ami in Forillon National Park. It is an avant-garde artistic performance outside of the traditional distribution channels. An audacious amalgam of a musical performance mixed with the geography of the site in the unique setting of the sunrise. The exploitation of the place, at this time of the day, allows to create an experience out of the ordinary. This singular experience, specific to the Festival Musique du Bout du Monde, makes its differentiation and its positioning.
"Residents of Quebec City and Montreal represent nearly one third of the Festival's tourist clientele. By implementing a development strategy in these cities, as was the case this year in Montreal with the Yann Perreau concert also presented on the occasion of Gaspésie Day, we are positioning the Festival Musique du Bout du Monde as a destination of choice for cultural tourism," explains Sophie Bourdages, president of Musique du Bout du Monde, a social economy enterprise that has been participating in the circulation of world music, which is said to be audacious since 2004.
The Festival Musique du Bout du monde takes this opportunity to highlight and thank the valuable actors and partners of this project. Yann Perreau, whose energy and passion thrilled the audience, La Fabrique culturelle for the production of the clip that served as a propellant for the promotion of the 2018 edition of the Festival, the City of Montreal for its excellent collaboration, Les Amis de la Montagne for their consent to the holding of the event, Telus for the broadcasting of a Facebook Live and, of course, Loto-Quebec, the Festival's presenting sponsor, which has accompanied the Festival for more than 10 years.
