El Balcón

El Balcón is a collective of six musicians based in Montreal, brought together by their passion for traditional world music and their desire to explore new acoustic sounds. Their unique style blends Mexican instruments, such as the jarana, requinto and tarima, with microtonal melodies from the East played on violin and oud. A warm double bass and a variety of percussion instruments such as the cajon, riqq, pandero and donkey jaw (kijada) carry them along. Their original, danceable rhythms are accompanied by two lead voices who never sing a song in the same way. In concert, you feel the complicity of a group of close friends, whose energy and pleasure in playing together create a lively, warm atmosphere.
