Grèn Sémé

Grèn Sémé is an innovative Maloya quintet. Centered around the signature style of Carlo De Sacco’s socially conscious and poetic lyrics, their music—written primarily in Creole—takes listeners on a journey through a global musical landscape where electronic Maloya and African pop merge over a ternary rhythm guided by the beats of the Indian Ocean (Maloya-Ségá-Salegy). To date, the group has released three albums—Grèn Sémé (2013), Hors Sol (2016), and Zamroza (2022)—and has just released a new EP, “Maloya Gazé,” which reveals the sunny side of this Creole ensemble with danceable, revitalizing, and organic music perfect for remixes and the dance floor.
