Manhu presents a fascinating reinterpretation of the music of the Yi people of Yunnan, specifically that of the Sani people of the Stone Forest region—an area geographically isolated from other Yi communities, which has consequently developed its own unique musical and cultural identity.

Extremely authentic, all members of the group are multi-instrumentalists, skilled in a wide variety of Yi instruments and vocal styles. Their energetic interpretation of these often obscure traditions showcases many of the region’s iconic instruments, helping to create a unique and distinctive sound.
