When Our Set Decorations Get a Second Life: A Recycling Initiative in Partnership with RECYC-QUÉBEC
At the Festival Musique du Bout du Monde, music brings our Gaspé community together. It inspires us and creates memories, but our commitment doesn’t stop there. We believe that a cultural event can also have a positive impact on the environment by rethinking the way we use our resources.
With this in mind, we are proud to partner with RECYC-QUÉBEC, a partner in our project to repurpose stage costumes.
Giving Our Decor a Second Life
Each edition of the Festival requires the installation of numerous visual elements to create a unique atmosphere. Among these, stage drapery plays a key role in the set design and in highlighting certain partnerships, but over time, it becomes outdated or can no longer be reused for its original purpose.
Rather than sending them to a landfill, we decided to give them a new purpose.
Thanks to financial support from RECYC-QUÉBEC, these textiles are collected, processed, and repurposed into unique promotional items available at the Festival’s official store. We can also count on the expertise of Unel Textiles Revalorisés for the production of small hats, tote bags, drawstring bags, storage pouches, and utensil holders.
Every item crafted from our vintage fabrics tells a story—the story of a venue that once welcomed artists and pulsed to the rhythm of performances under the big top at the Harbour site, before being reborn in an entirely new form.
